7 unexpected ways to get involved

There are a gajillion* ways to get involved at ASU, whether your goal is to make new friends, explore an interest or be a part of the community. We’re shining the light on seven less commonly known ways to get involved that you may not have heard of yet.

1. Help shape the future of the university

Students who serve on university boards or committees have the chance to make a direct impact on university policies, planning and development.

2. Express yourself

If you love sharing your opinions on life around campus, apply to ASU’s independent, student-run news organization, The State Press. You can also submit a letter to the editor on a topic you care about or volunteer to be a part of the student-run radio station, KASC (Blaze radio).

3. Help international students thrive

Make a friend from another part of the world by becoming an ASU Peer Mentor. This program pairs current American or international students with a new international student. You help the new student navigate campus resources, transition to life at ASU and more.

4. Make a difference

Lead social change in your community and the world by becoming a part of Changemaker Central. Pitch a startup, join a community improvement project, find a vounteer opportunity or explore even more ways to get involved.

5. Attend an on-campus event

There is something happening every day at ASU. We love this ASU involvement calendar because it covers fun events like involvement fairs and community circles, where you can meet and get to know other Sun Devils. For more events, check out the university-wide calendar.

6. Explore the arts

If you love art, you can visit the ASU Art Museum at no charge. Then check out ASU Gammage for the best of Broadway as well as an array of artists from across the globe. Student tickets are available for certain events. 

7. Join a tutoring group

Improve your grades and make new friends by joining an online study hub. You can connect with people studying the same subject matter as you and form study groups.
