Two students research

Why should I participate in a research study?

From creating new cancer drugs to developing more effective teaching methods, research plays an important role in improving our lives. Researchers can’t do this work alone and depend on members of the community to participate.

You can find online and in-person research studies on Research Plus Me: ASU’s research study discovery site. You can make a significant impact on society. By participating in a research study you can accelerate discovery, diversify research findings, and explore research areas that interest you.

Accelerate discovery

Local and global issues often require fast solutions. Whether it’s how AI is affecting education or how new health conditions are affecting the population. Researchers often struggle to recruit enough participants to get started. Did you know that 9 out of 10 trials have to double their timeline in order to recruit enough participants and that 80% of trials are delayed or cancelled ?By participating, you will help accelerate research findings on key issues that will make our world a better place.

Diversify research findings

Historically, some groups of people have not been invited to participate in research studies. In 1993, the National Institute of Health signed the The NIH Revitalization Act into law. The law stipulates that women and minority populations need to be included as participants in research.

ASU researchers are dedicated to inviting, including and empowering participants from historically underrepresented groups. Watch why it is important to diversify research.
