In college you have a lot to manage, from your studies and social life to your mental health and wellness. If you’re wondering how you’ll be able to focus on your personal wellness during college, we have the answers. We’re sharing resources for four areas of wellness to focus on, and exploring how you can make the most of your experience by focusing on yourself this semester.
While you’re spending a lot of time studying and learning, you also need to make sure that you stay active, eat well and get enough sleep. Live Well @ ASU has resources to help you stay on track with your health, including resources to help with healthy eating, managing your sleep schedule and staying hydrated.
Your emotional, mental and spiritual well-being matter. It will help you in the long run if you acknowledge and make time for yourself by focusing on these areas of your wellness. Learn how to manage your stress and mental health, and explore healthy living strategies like how to overcome obstacles and trust your struggle. Or try the ASU Center for Mindfulness’ 20-minute meditation video sessions to practice mindfulness and learn the basics of meditating.
Gain some knowledge about your wellness with online programs covering topics like alcohol use, consent, and respect and sexual violence. You can also take online assessments to help you assess and understand your current needs in various relationships in your life. Explore more learning resources related to topics like stress and balance, time management and staying focused with everything going on in your life and the world.
Making meaningful positive connections is a big part of your personal wellness. Making new friends can be challenging, and it can help you understand what healthy relationships look like. Live Well offers videos covering topics from a guide to maintaining meaningful friendships, being a good listener and understanding how to deal with miscommunications. It can also be beneficial to recognize what healthy and unhealthy relationships look like, and to understand what you should do if you find yourself or a friend in that situation.
Throughout the school year, make it a practice to check in on your wellness. You can stay on track with some of the DIY wellness and other resources available to all students at wellness.asu.edu. As a reminder, ASU also offers 24/7 counseling services for all students, offering both virtual and in-person counseling sessions.
