What is the community of care?

ASU student using hand sanitizer on campus

The ASU Community of Care comes from our shared belief that as Sun Devils, we take care of ourselves, each other and our community. If you’re enrolled as a new or current student at ASU, you’re required to complete the Community of Care training, a video series filmed by your fellow Sun Devils that discusses how we can contribute to the health, safety and well-being of all members of our community by slowing the spread of COVID-19. Here are three more ways you can help.

Complete your daily health check

To promote a healthy community of care, on-campus students, faculty and staff are required to complete a daily health check. You have three options for how to complete your daily check: via the ASU Mobile app, online or by calling the ASU Experience Center. You can adjust your preferences and create a schedule of which days you’ll be on campus, so you don’t forget to check in.

Wear your mask

Whenever you’re on campus, whether inside a building (this includes the Sun Devil Fitness Complex, private study rooms and classrooms) or outdoors, you’re required to wear a facial covering. Read this message from President Michael Crow outlining the importance of facial coverings in public settings to protect not only ourselves but others around us. Your Community of Care kit includes two ASU face coverings that meet this requirement. You can pick up your kit with your student ID at any ASU bookstore location.

Use the sanitizers and wipes around campus

If you are on campus and taking classes, use the sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer at the entrance to your classroom before taking your seat. Each classroom is equipped with these cleaning supplies to promote a healthy environment, and you’re encouraged to wipe down your space, use the hand sanitizer and choose a seat that has not been blocked off for social distancing.

If you have any questions about when and where to wear a mask on campus, this video should answer all your questions.

A library of helpful advice, tips and answers to questions from students to Sunny.

ASU’s chatbot, Sunny, has been helping students get adjusted to college life for a few years now. The questions from students year after year, rarely change. Sometimes it helps to see what other students are asking to stay informed and realize you aren’t the only one trying to figure it all out.

Welcome to the Hey Sunny blog – a library of advice for students from Sunny and the team supporting the bot.
